The Sassafras Literary Exchange is pleased to announce that Bill Cagle will be guest speaker this Thursday evening.  The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m., October 15th at the Southern Appalachian Folk School (formerly Sharptop Art Center) behind the Old Jail on D.B. Carroll Street.

Cagle is the author of the soon-to-be published book called The Road To Georgia Marble. This well researched tome will consist of about 180 pages including pictures.  Its focus will be on the history of the Old Federal Road and the marble industry.

Although living outside the county for several years during schooling and the beginning of his career, Cagle and his wife moved back to  Pickens in 1997 and began a family.  Both Cagle and his wife are tied to Pickens through several generations.

Having always enjoyed history, Cagle has been President of the Pickens Historical Society for two and a half years.  As a writer and historian, Cagle promises to be a delightful speaker.

The public is invited.   Social distancing practices will be in place.
