Know someone who has contributed to the betterment of Pickens County? Pickens County Retired Educators Association (PCREA) will honor a Pickens County resident with an accumulated record of selfless unpaid service to his/her fellow citizens for the 36th year. The Golden Deed Award is presented annually to the person in our community who best exemplifies this common-minded spirit.
To qualify for the award, one must be living and at least 50 years old; have lived in Pickens County at least five years and have made significant contributions toward the betterment of Pickens County without financial compensation.
Many Pickens citizens deserve recognition; they must be nominated by you as an individual, club member, church member, friend or family member. You may nominate more than one person for the honor. PCREA will accept nominations from the public through December 28, 2020. Forms are available at the Pickens Chamber of Commerce. The nominations are judged by a panel of judges represented by several local civic organizations. Nominations must be attached to a written report that includes complete information about the nominee’s service to the community through non-profit and other organizations including church involvement and volunteer activities. Please consider a person who goes the extra mile toward making Pickens County a better place because of their unselfish volunteer service in the community.
