The Pickens Progress is a weekly newspaper serving Pickens County, Georgia. It serves the communities of Jasper, Talking Rock, Ball Ground, Hinton, Ludville, Marble Hill, Tate, Big Canoe and Bent Tree as well as the rural areas of the north Georgia county with population of roughly 30,000 in the year 2010.
It is one of the few remaining independently owned newspapers in the state. It has been owned and operated by the Edge and Pool families for more than 100 years and is the oldest family owned business in Pickens County.
The print edition of our paper goes to stores for sale each Wednesday morning. It is mailed through the Post Office each Wednesday afternoon and subscribers should receive it on Thursday in the regular mail. Subscribe to the Pickens Progress here. Change your address here.
