James Wallace Moss 

March 24, 1936 -February 16, 2018

 

Mr. Wallace "Pop" Moss, age 81 of Ball Ground passed away Friday, February 16, 2018 at Piedmont Mountianside Hospital.

Mr. Moss is survived by His Sons and Daughters-in-Law: Phillip & Brenda Moss of Talking Rock, Greg & Donna Moss of Jasper, and Marty & Shelty Moss of Talking Rock. Son: Benjamin Moss of Ball Ground. Daughter: Neva Kay Moss & Charles Jones of Ball Ground. Nine Grandchildren and Eleven Great-Grandchildren.

Wallace is preceded in death by his Son and Daughter-in-Law: Ronnie & Mollie Moss.

Visitation will begin 10:30 AM Sunday, February 18 and continue until the funeral hour.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 20, 2018 in the Cagle Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Pete Hughes and Rev. Scott Lawson officiating.

Pallbearers: Phillip Moss, Greg Moss, Marty Moss, Charles Jones, Chris Wilkie and Brandon Moss.

Honorary Pallbearers: Roy Moss, Blake Moss and Ramsley Stone.

Interment will be in the Mica Baptist Church Cemetery.

Hubert Sperin

   Hubert Sperin, age 77, of Ball Ground, passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at his residence. 

   Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the Sosebee Memorial Chapel with Rev. Harold Bottoms, Rev. Evan Howell, Rev. Tommy Estes and Rev. Mike Byess officiating. Interment followed in Mica Baptist Church Cemetery. 

   Hubert was saved at Yellow Creek Baptist Church in 1953. He was a Deacon and member of Mica Baptist Church, a member of Red Wine Masonic Lodge #174 and Marble Hill Order of the Eastern Star #448. Hubert was a retired Poultry Inspector with the USDA. 

   He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Mary Joyce “Widdie” Sperin and parents, Eugene and Grace Sperin; survivors include his children, Jeff (Sophia) Sperin, Johnny (Linda) Sperin and Stevie (Donna Cagle) Sperin; sister, Mary Fran Kent (Charles); grandchildren, Shanda Sperin, Brenton Sperin, Skylar Sperin, Jade Sperin, Kaitlyn Pain and Lucas Pain; great-grandchildren, Aslyn Johnson, Corbin Johnson, Miley Sperin, Eden Sperin and Easton Sperin; several nieces and cousins. 

   In Lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Mica Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.

Patricia Ingram 

May 11, 1930 - February 16, 2018

 

Mrs. Patricia A. Ingram, age 87 of Nelson passed away Friday, February 16, 2018 at Wildwood Health and Rehab.

Mrs. Ingram is survived by her Son: David Ingram of Nelson. Daughter: Carol Biddy of Jasper, Daughter and Son-in-Law: Martha & John Tipton of Nelson. Grandsons: Justin Biddy, Caleb Tipton and Landon Tipton.

Patricia is preceded in death by her Husband: James C. Ingram.

Visitation will be held Sunday, February 18, from 12:00 Pm until 9:00 PM and Monday February 19 from 8:00 AM until the funeral hour.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, February 19, 2018 at the Nelson Baptist Church. Rev. Leroy Kelly officiating.

Pallbearers: Roger Parker, Jason Vance, Johnny Densmore, Buddy Cowart, Larry Cowart and Tom Brewer.

Interment will be in the Cherokee Memorial Park in Canton.

Bruce A Murray

April 9, 1920 -February 16, 2018

 

 Mr. Bruce A. Murray, age 97, of Chamblee, Georgia, passed away at his home on Friday, February 16, 2018. He was born on April 9, 1920 in Savannah, Georgia. He graduated from Commercial High School in Savannah in 1939 and worked as a locomotive fireman for the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad. 

In 1942 at the age of 22 he joined the Army and served in the Philippine Islands during World War II.  He was wounded in action and discharged in 1945. In 1946, he married Frances Sue Dobson and together they raised three children in Savannah and later moved to the Chamblee area.

   Mr. Murray is survived by his daughter Cyndi Morrison, her husband Jesse of Marietta, his son, Craig Murray and his wife, Sally of Lawrenceville; grandchildren, Michael Murray and wife, Shea of McDonough, Shannon Murray, Erin Murray and Shane Morrison; great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Murray and Avery Murray.

   Mr. Murray was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Dobson Murray and their son, Bruce along with his wife, Ellen B. Murray.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2018 at 12:00 noon from the Cool Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Tate, Georgia.

Joyce Pittman Brooks

June 11, 1933 – February 16, 2018

 

   Joyce Pittman Brooks, age 84, of Jasper, Georgia passed away Friday, February 16, 2018 at Kindred Hospital Rome.  She was born June 11, 1933 to Steven and Mamie Pittman in Blackshear, Georgia.

   Mrs. Brooks is survived by son, Randy Brooks of Jasper; grandchildren, Luna Brooks of Jasper, Natalie Johnson of Ellijay; sister, Anne Bayne of Milledgeville; brothers, Steven Pittman of Brunswick, Andy Pittman of Gray and Grady Pittman of Gray. 

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Brooks.

   Services will be held 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Reverend Ben Mock officiating.  Interment will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 24, 2018 in the Waters Cemetery in Blackshear, Georgia.

   The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.

Joan Marie Koss

September 12, 1940 –February 13, 2018

 

Joan Marie Koss, age 77 of Jasper passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at her home.  Joan was born September 12, 1940 to John and Helen Farrell in Detroit, Michigan.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Lawrence Steven Koss of Jasper; son, Steven Koss of Jasper; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Dia Koss of Dallas, Georgia; grandchildren, Casey Wilson, Jack Koss, and Mitchell Koss.

A memorial service is planned for 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Our Lady of the Mountains Roman Catholic Church with Father Charles Byrd officiating.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, make donations in honor of Mrs. Koss to Pickens Animal Rescue; PO Box 45; Jasper, GA  30143.

Jimmy Lewis Maddox

May 7, 1930 – February 16, 2018

 

Jimmy Lewis Maddox, age 87, of Jasper passed away Friday, February 16, 2018 at his home.  

He was born May 7, 1930 to Toliver and Mary Maddox in Gainesville, Georgia.

He is survived by his wife, Winnie Jean Maddox of Jasper; daughters, Jean Dacus of Ellijay, Joy Maddox of Gainesville; sons, Steve Maddox of Gainesville, Scott Maddox of Gainesville; sister, Merrlyn Presgraves of Gainesville; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 19, 2018 in the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Reverend Bobby Griffin officiating.   Interment will be at 2:00 p.m. in Memorial Park in Gainesville.

The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Monday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

Winston Paul Smith

December 4, 1930 – February 16, 2018

 

   Winston Paul Smith, age 87, of Jasper, passed away Friday, February 16, 2018 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital. He was born December 4, 1930 to Robert and Bessie Smith in Copperhill, Tennessee. 

   Winston is survived by his wife, Bonnie Smith of Jasper; stepsons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Elizabeth Fann of Jasper,  Jimmy and Connie Fann of Ellijay; brother, Fred Smith of Blue Ridge; grandchildren, Billy Fann of Ellijay, Julie Kelley of Cartersville, Kayla Staton of Jasper, Klay Fann of Mesa, Arizona, Mandy Smith of Blue Ridge.  Several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

   He was preceded in death by his son, Paul Smith; his father and mother, Robert and Bessie Smith.

   Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 19, 2018 at the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Reverend Ben Mock officiating. Interment will follow in Lake Forest Memorial Park.
