Effie McWhorter Norris, 96, of Jasper, passed away December 29, 2016. She was born October 29, 1920, in Pickens County, Georgia.
Mrs. Norris is survived by three nieces whom she affectionately referred to as “her girls”: Patricia Atkinson (Neil) of Jasper and Buena Vista, Colorado, Mary Jane Reid (Gerald) of Jasper, and Marty Beaver (John) of Jasper. Other surviving nieces and nephews are Gladys Harris, Faye Weeks, Ruth Roland, Betty Mullinax (Glenn), Betty Sue Lebow (Fritz), John Moorhead, and Mary Boden (Bob). She is also survived by many great- and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jabie W. Norris, her parents, John and Mary McWhorter, and eight siblings.
Mrs. Norris was a member of First Baptist Church of Jasper and the Willing Workers Sunday School class. For many years, she assisted her husband, Jabie, the county extension agent, with the 4H events. She often did needlework crosses and other Christian symbolic keepsakes that were distributed to the children at Children’s Sermon time. She volunteered at Georgia Mountains Hospice for 15 years and made 2,000 needlework bookmarks for grieving families. She also volunteered her time and talent at The Joy House. She was employed at several different places, the last two jobs being at Pickens Footwear and Pickens Tech School (now Chattahoochee Technical College).
The funeral service was held on Monday, January 2, 2017 at 2 pm, at Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Reverend Greg Pope and Reverend David Stuart officiating. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no graveside service.

Mr. J.P. Davis Jr., 72, of Jasper, passed away Wednesday December 28, 2016 at his residence.
Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Jackie Davis of Jasper; sons and daughters-in-law, Anthony & Tiffany Davis of Louisiana; Travis & Janie Davis of Woodstock; and Brandon & Melissa Davis of Jasper; daughter and son-in-law, Donna & Steve Parrish of Florida; brothers and sisters-in-law, Clyde & Barbara Davis of Jasper, Elijah & Eva Davis of Ellijay, and Douglas Davis of Ellijay; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his father, JP Davis Sr. and his brother, Robert Davis.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, December 30th from the chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with Revs. Travis Davis and Eddie Parker officiating. Interment at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Jacob Davis, Jack Billig, Brandon Davis, Steve Parrish, Matthew Davis, and Cody Davis.

Mr. Tommy Coleman, 74, of Jasper, passed away Tuesday December 27, 2016 at his residence.
Mr. Coleman is survived by his wife, Gail Coleman of Jasper; sons, Jamie Coleman of Jasper and Ty Coleman of Jasper; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Harmon Darnell of Tate; sisters, Imogene Hamrick of Kennesaw and Brenda Coleman of Tate; grandchildren, Denny Darnell and Callie Darnell; great-grandchild, Khloe Darnell; several nieces and nephews; and special buddy from Vietnam: M.L. Tate.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 29th from the chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with Rev. Dean Price officiating. Interment was held at Georgia National Cemetery in Cherokee County on Monday, January 2, 2017 at 10 a.m. with Local chapter 47 DAV in charge of military rites.

Mr. David Morris, 61, of Jasper, passed away Friday December 30, 2016 at his residence.
Mr. Morris is survived by his wife, Vickie Morris of Jasper; son and daughter-in-law, Alan & Lori Morris of Ringgold; brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie & Susan Morris of Jasper; sister, Barbara King of Jasper; brother-in-law, Richard Free of Jasper; sister-in-law, Erma Morris of Jasper; mother-in-law, Doris Walker of Jasper; and nieces and nephews.
Mr. Morris was preceded in death by his parents, Truman and Frankie Morris and his siblings, Tommy Morris, Patsy Ellis, and Carolyn Free.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 1, 2017 from the chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with Revs. Gene Childers and Buck Parker officiating. Interment at Lake Forest Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Jason Morris, Chad Morris, Darren Morris, Cody King, Timothy Ellis, Bryan Walker, and honorary pallbearer Kevin Walker.

Bonnie Haley, 72, of Canton, GA passed away Saturday, December 31st, 2016 at her residence.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., on Monday, January 02, 2017, from the Talking Rock Baptist Church with Rev. Thomas Wheeler, Rev. Bobby McFarland, and Rev. Buck Parker officiating. Interment followed in the Talking Rock Baptist Church Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her son, Tim Haley; parents, Auburn and Lillie Raynes; sisters, Lucille Forrest, Zonia Waters, Thelma James and Audrey McPherson; brothers, George Raynes & Charlie Raynes.
Survivors include her husband, Donald Haley of Canton; son and daughter-in-law Jeff and Marlyn Haley of Canton; sisters, Ann Peeler of Athens, Tn. and Dorothy Raynes of Peachtree City, Ga.; grandchildren, Rose Marie, Josh, Emily, and Bree. Hoy Glenn Adams, 66, of Tate, Georgia passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2016. Mr. Adams was born on July 13, 1950 in Savannah, TN to the late Hoy and Roxy Adams.
Glenn spent time in the Army serving our country during the Vietnam War. After his time devoted to our country, he continued to serve his community as a firefighter. Glenn spent 23 years with the city of Atlanta Fire Department where he earned his way up the ranks to Captain. After retirement from the City of Atlanta Fire Department, he continued helping others by volunteering with CUE Center for Missing Persons and other agencies to help locate missing and endangered people. His efforts help to save many lives and locate numerous missing persons. He loved fishing and outdoor adventures with his kids and grandkids.
Along with his parents, Glenn is preceded in death by his brother Willard Eugene Adams.
Mr. Adams is survived by his son, Roman Glenn Adams; daughter, Stormi Kenney, son in law, Robert Kenney; his grandchildren, Adam Austin, Skyler Gray, Sawyer Gray, Victoria Adams, Madelyn Adams, and Ansley Kenney; and his siblings, Stephen Dale Adams, Kathy Darlene Adams, Sherry Elaine Adams, and Dianne Adams.
A memorial service to honor the life of Mr. Adams will be held at two o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, January 7, 2017 from the chapel of Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the funeral home.

Troy Lee Stevenson McCracken, 67, of Jasper, GA, was lifted in the arms of angels to be with our Lord on December 25, 2016
He is survived by Sig Neuhart, his wife/life partner of 27 years; his father Troy Lee McCracken of Easley, SC, two sisters; Edith Lester of Easley, SC, Mary Spence of Cartersville, GA, his brother Gordon McCracken of Cartersville, GA and numerous cousins, neices and nephews.
He was preceeded in death by his mother, Fannie Armstead McCracken.
Fish was a lifetime member of the Custom Riders Motorcycle Club, Atlanta, GA, and the American Legion, Post 305, Fairmount, GA. He had become an accomplished truck driver, having held a variety of positions after serving in the U. S. Navy from 1968 to 1970 actively and from 1970 to 1974 as a reservist. He was raised in the Church of God and knew our Saviour well, may he rest in eternal peace
There will be a Celebration of his life on March 3, 2017, his 68th birthday, at the American Legion post 305 in Fairmount, GA after 5 p.m. Please bring your love and tall tales to share in this gathering to honor our dear friend and brother Fish and his wife Sig
