May Ellen Branscum, 82 passed away on Friday, December 16, 2016 in Duluth, Georgia. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home, Historic Marietta Chapel with Rev. Larry Ritch officiating. Interment followed at Mountain View Park Cemetery, Marietta, Ga.
Mrs. Branscum was born in Tate, Ga. and lived most of her life in Marietta. She was a proud homemaker, she had a special love for gospel music and lived for her loving family.
Mrs. Branscum was predeceased by her husband, Sterlin Branscum and son, Pete Branscum. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Scott and husband, Ian of Duluth, Ga.; sisters, Marie Guthrie of Ball Ground, Ga., Evelyn Dulworth of Dallas, Tx.; brothers, James Chamblee of Marietta, Ga., J.L. Chamblee of Duluth, Ga.; daughter in law, Trisha Branscum of Dallas, Ga.; grandchildren, Ryan Branscum of Powder Springs, Ga., Ashetin Brooks and husband, Will of Dallas, Ga.; great grandchildren, Peyton Brooks and Coleson Brooks. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Audrey Dobson, 85, of Jasper passed away Monday December 12, 2016 at Kennestone Hospital.
Mrs. Dobson is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Jennifer Dobson of Jasper and Barry and Dawn Dobson of Jasper; daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Terry Prather of Ranger; brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Betty Reynolds of Jasper; grandchildren, Christi Dobson, Michael Prather, Matthew Prather, Nikki Stripling, Chandler Dobson, Christopher Dobson, Alec Dobson, Josh Dobson, Ryder Dobson, Niki Turner, and Tyler Turner; and 9 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 14th from the chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with Revs. Ronald Seabolt, Billy Poole, and Donald Robertson officiating. Interment at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Pall bearers that served: Michael Prather, Matthew Prather, Chandler Dobson, Christopher Dobson, Josh Dobson, Ryder Dobson, Tyler Turner, and Austin Dobson.

Harry Hendrix, Sr.
Harry Emerson Hendrix, Sr., 81, of Chico, California passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2016 at Prestige Assisted Living in Chico, California.
A Jasper, Georgia native, Harry was born July 8, 1935 to Herman and Eva (McWhorter) Hendrix.
As a young man, Harry attended the Georgia Military College in Milledgeville, from which he graduated high school in 1954. He later attended and graduated from the University of Georgia in 1959, having earned a bachelor’s degree Business Administration. While at UGA, he became a member of the Sphinx Club in 1958, the oldest honorary society at the university, recognizing students, faculty, staff and alumni who have made significant contributions to the university, the state of Georgia and the nation. He served two years in the United States Army, stationed at Fort Ord in California, where he rose to the rank of First Lieutenant. He married Ann Mathews on April 29, 1961 at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church in Marysville, California. They had two daughters and one son. Harry later married Natalie Efting in 1989; and upon retirement, moved to Schertz, Texas.
After earning his law degree, Harry worked as an Administrative Law Judge for the California Department of Social Services in Sacramento, California for 26 years, retiring in 1998. Harry was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling abroad (especially cruises) with Natalie, watching football (his beloved Georgia Bulldogs most of all) and golf; and spent the final years of his life in the company of his faithful companion, Rusty (poodle), who was by his side until the end. Harry loved his children and grandchildren and enjoyed keeping up with their adventures. He had an optimistic nature and always felt like he had lived a very fortunate life.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Eva Hendrix; brother, John William Hendrix, Sr.; daughter, Caroline Riddle; and wife, Natalie Efting.
Survivors are his son, Harry Jr. (Janelle) Hendrix of Yuba City, California; daughter, Marikathryn Hendrix (Todd White) of Chico, California; stepson, Lee (Tammy) Efting of Schertz, Texas; stepdaughter, Grace (David) Howell of Austin, Texas; granddaughter, Jocelyn Allen; grandson, Andrew Hendrix; granddaughter, Carley Riddle; grandson, Zeke White; granddaughter, Erin Efting; granddaughter, Kaitlyn Efting; grandson, Nathan Howell; great-grandson, Ayden Ramirez; great-granddaughter, Lillie John; and several nieces and nephews.
Harry will always be fondly remembered as a true southern gentleman, and a Damn Good DAWG! (Sic’um…Woof-Woof!).

Mrs. Peggy Thompson Crowl, 69, of Jasper, Georgia, passed away at her home on Monday, December 19, 2016. She was born June 25, 1947 to Theodore and Essie Thompson at Fort Pepperrell, St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada.
Peggy is survived by her husband, Robert Crowl of Jasper, Georgia; daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Darrin Myers of Lawrenceville, Georgia; daughter, Caren Bancroft of Gaithersburg, Maryland; daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Joe Noble of Milton, Georgia; son, Brian Crowl of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii; brothers, Michael Thompson and his wife Janie of Jefferson City, Tennessee and Tommy Thompson of Morristown, Tennessee; grandchildren, Joshua Noble, Christopher Bancroft, and Lindsey Noble. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Peggy grew up in Jefferson City, Tennessee, where she attended Carson-Newman University. She met Robert there and they married on June 18, 1966 in Academia, Pennsylvania. They lived in Virginia, Maryland, Hawaii and Atlanta. She worked at Roberds before retiring and moving to the Bent Tree Community in 2001 where she served on several committees and was a member of the Bent Tree Saddle Club. She celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary with a festive, family Hawaiian luau this past June.
Peggy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who cherished bringing family together for holidays and milestones. Her grandchildren and the family horses and dogs adored her and always rushed to greet her and see what treats she brought them. She enjoyed traveling, especially to the beach for annual family vacations and to western guest ranches. She was an avid reader and was accomplished in genealogy research, tracing family roots back to Europe and discovering several interesting stories.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Jefferson City, Tennessee.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, December 28 in the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Reverend Roland Nelson officiating. The family is planning a private burial service at Georgia National Cemetery.
The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 27 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and Wednesday, December 28 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m.

Mr. Kenneth Cagle, 83, of Gainesville, passed away Sunday December 11, 2016 at the Oaks at Fairmont Assisted Living Center.
Mr. Cagle was a Navy veteran that served in the Korean War and an employee of Delta Airlines for 38 years.
Mr. Cagle is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Juli Cagle of Gainesville; brother and sister-in-law, Warren and Carolyn Cagle of Dawsonville; sister-in-law, Betty Edmondson of Nelson; grandchildren, Payton Cagle, Avery Cagle, and Emory Cagle; and nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 15th from the chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with Chaplain Nancy L. Garrison officiating. Entombment at Sunrise Memorial Gardens Chapel Mausoleum.
